Of course theres a story behind these photos.

Sunflower season rolled around at my favorite flower farm and I didn't have any sessions booked there and wasn't sure if I wanted head out that way. A couple weeks went by and I was just about to hit the halfway mark in my pregnancy and suddenly I got an idea for the prefect sunflower field photo.

I had the perfect dress in my client closet to match the colors of the flowers, with the cutest cowboy boots. I envisioned bringing a stool out to the field and standing on it among the flowers shot from a low angle to exaggerate the size of the flowers and bring a unique perspective to the usual sunflower photos. I was convinced this was the perfect way to commemorate 20 weeks of growing my little one.

I talked my husband into making the hour and some change drive out to the flower farm and after an hour of driving we were hit with an unexpected and nasty storm - gusts of winds and torrential downpour and realized that there was no way it was going to happen. We turned around and headed right back and after two hours of driving in treacherous conditions we were home with nothing to show for it.

I was so disappointed. I was headed out of town the next day and would be away for a few days and as it was the very end of sunflower season wasn't sure if the flowers would hold up until I got back and either way the forecast was rain.

I mourned this epic idea that would never come to fruition.

But as luck would have it the stars aligned and the sunflowers prevailed, the weather cooperated and we made the drive out yet again and finally brought my vision to life and it was perfect.

I absolutely love how these turned out.
